Forspoken made a brief appearance at this Wednesday’s State of Play. Square Enix’s action RPG project gave us a very nice gameplay trailer, despite a postponement of its release date.
[Mis à jour le 10 mars 2022 à 10h44] A young New Yorker is transported to a fantasy world, entirely unknown, and must face the challenges that await her. Yes, Forspoken is indeed an isekai, this sub-genre of Japanese heroic-fantasy where the protagonist is magically transported to a parallel world. But it is above all Square Enix’s titanic action RPG project, presented through a long gameplay trailer during the Game Awards 2021. The studio behind Final Fantasy has teamed up with Luminous Productions, the team behind Final Fantasy XV to offer us this unique adventure. Recently, this unique piece made an appearance at Playstation’s State of Play in March, offering us a new gameplay trailer that almost made us forget the postponement of its release date. We will explain everything to you.
What release date for Forspoken?
The fast approaching release of Forspoken, set for next May, has finally been postponed to October 11, 2022. A news justified by the desire of the Square Enix teams to provide a perfect game, at the height of its ambitions. It is a Playstation 5 exclusive, whose technical ambition confines it to a new generation console. Owners of Playstation 4 will therefore not be able to play it. As for the opinions of the video game world about this new release, they are varied and mixed. The trailers do not necessarily do justice to the scenario of the game which seems seen and reviewed. An isekai is a fairly direct way to involve the player by allowing him to identify with the protagonist with whom he shares a lot in common. Regarding the gameplay, Forspoken stands out from all action-RPGs of the moment, the focus on movement and magic are good points that will undoubtedly help the game stand out. In short, a release to watch.

Gameplay
Forspoken is an entirely new experience, a world born entirely from the imagination of the Luminous Productions teams. The player embodies Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the fantastic world of Athia, a world she does not know and where she finds herself endowed with powerful magical powers. However, the world of Athia is in the grip of an unprecedented crisis. Ruled by the Tantas, ruthless despots, this world faces many threats, and Frey represents its only hope for the salvation of the people. A very classic scenario for a game with a unique graphic style. The gameplay of Forspoken is centered around two points: the fluidity and speed of movement, and the diversity of magic powers. There are also RPG elements such as a skill tree and some images suggest crafting features. The game has next-gen graphics based on the Luminous Engine, which allows, among other things, impressive particle effects during magic fights.
