Forsberg has played his entire NHL career, ten years, in Nashville, and has scored 220 goals, more than any other Nashville player, reports NHL’s site. The fact that the Swedish forward, who played youth hockey in Leksand, is said to be on several clubs’ wish list is a low odds, after a season with 42 goals and as many assists in 69 matches.
This summer, his six-year contract expires, and he is free to talk to various stakeholders.
– He does not sign with us for anything less than eight years, comments the club’s general manager David Poile who would have liked to see the ink dry on the contract for a long time.
Forsberg himself has also said that he wants to stay.
– I have said it since day one: The goal is to come back here. But the business side is something completely different than what happens on the ice. We simply have to wait and see how it turns out, he said earlier in May.
