Verschoor had qualified ninth and was therefore allowed to start from P2. De Benschopper drove strong but he didn’t manage to take the win. He was still in the lead for a long time, but in the penultimate lap Fittipaldi overtook Verschoor. A few hours into the GP, the FIA announced that Verschoor had been removed from the result.
