The first to withdraw from the presidential race

Pence became the first major candidate to ditch a former president Donald Trump’s ruling the Republican presidential race.

According to information obtained by the AP news agency, Pence chose to announce his withdrawal from the Las Vegas meeting because he wanted to show his support for Israel, but also to show that he is a candidate in a party that is struggling with populism and isolationist politics.

On the other hand, Pence’s decision saves him from taking on additional debt required by the campaign and from possible humiliation if he had not advanced to the party’s third primary debate. The debate will take place on November 8 in Miami.

Pence served as Donald Trump’s vice president from 2017 to 2021. Relations between the two cooled in 2021, when Pence admitted that Biden had won the presidential election, when Trump saw Pence as a traitor. In his presidential campaign, Pence sought to tell voters that granting Biden’s election victory was an act required by the Constitution.
