Clinton, who has suffered from several health concerns in recent years, was treated at a hospital in the capital, Washington. A Clinton aide previously said she was being treated at Georgetown University Hospital.

The former US president has had health problems in the past. After his presidency, for example, in 2004 he had to undergo heart bypass surgery and then started following a vegan diet.

Clinton served two terms as president from 1993 to 2001.
