The former Prime Minister and two other former ministers, prosecuted for alleged embezzlement of public funds, illicit enrichment, money laundering and complicity, were expected on Wednesday March 15 before the Court of Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (Crief), set up by the junta in power in Conakry since September 2021. These former senior officials of the regime ofAlpha Conde were expected in front the Economic and Financial Offenses Repression Court. But in an open letter written from prison, former Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana denounced a targeted and selective witch hunt before indicating that he would not appear, as long as his rights were not respected.
The prosecutor of the Crief, Aly Touré, was surprised by their absence and judged that their attitude bordered on contempt. He also sent a bailiff to record the absence of the defendants. The attitude of the former ministers angered the lawyers for the civil party who demanded their forced appearance.
” The parquet floor has at its disposal all legal means to forcibly bring the defendants to appear “Said Antoine Pépé Lamah, one of the lawyers for the civil parties. The hearing has been adjourned to March 20.
