Following the successful completion of the 24-hour anti-terrorism operation launched by the Azerbaijani army in Karabakh on September 19, one of the leaders of the so-called Armenian regime in the Karabakh region was captured. In the news in the Azerbaijani press, it was stated that 50-year-old Arayik Harutyunyan, the former “president” of the so-called Armenian regime in the Karabakh region, was captured by the Azerbaijani State Security Service personnel and was about to be brought to the capital Baku.
Harutyunyan served as the “president” of the so-called Armenian regime in Karabakh, which is not recognized by any country in the world, between 2020 and 2023, and announced that he resigned from his post on August 31, 2023.

Harutyunyan said that during the Second Karabakh War in 2020, he gave the order for the missile attack by the Armenian army on the city center of Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second largest city.

Azerbaijan had previously arrested Ruben Vardanyan, the state minister of the so-called Armenian regime, and Levon Mnatsakanyan, the former commander of the army of the so-called regime, at border checkpoints when they fled from Karabakh.
