“I was actually already cutting back,” says Van Zeeland. “This year I participated in the youth of UZSC for the first time.” This week, Van Zeeland was approached by Andy Hoepelman, vice-chairman of UZSC and teammate of Van Zeeland in 1976 in Montreal. “He explained Johan’s situation to me and asked me if I wanted to take over until the end of the season. I said yes, because I think it is a nice association.”
