Former Microsoft CEO wants to become football chairman

Barnekow has a past as CEO of Microsoft Sweden and CEO of Telia Sweden and has been nominated by Skåne’s football association.

The current chairman, Karl-Erik Nilsson, is stepping down this spring and a new chairman is to be elected. The nomination period ends on January 15. On February 15, the election committee will present its proposal and on March 25, SvFF’s confederation meeting will be held, when, among other things, the new chairman will be elected.

Since before, the following seven candidates have been nominated:

+ Caroline Waldheim, 49, head of sustainability at SvFF. Nominated by Jämtland/Härjedalens FF and Smålands FF.

+ Birger Jonsson, 61, chairman of Västmanland’s football association. Nominated by Västmanland’s FF.

+ Annika Grälls, 59 years old, chairman of Elite Soccer Ladies. Nominated by Södermanland’s FF.

+ Jens T Andersson, 50, overall national team manager at SvFF. Nominated by BK Häcken.

+ Tommy Andersson, 56 years old, chairman of the Blekinge football association. Nominated by Norrbottens FF.

+ Fredrik Reinfeldt, 57, consultant, former prime minister (M). Nominated by IF Brommapojkarna.

+ Lars-Christer Olsson, 72 years old, former secretary general of the European Football Association and former chairman of Swedish elite football. Nominated by Västerbotten FF.
