In connection with the police’s internal investigation being presented on Wednesday, Anders Thornberg claimed that he only received information about the relationship between Mats Löfving and Linda Staaf in December 2021.
– I found out about it on the sixth of December 2021 and then two days later I had an employment law conversation with Mats Löfving when I brought up those questions and then he denied that it was that way, said Thornberg.
Already informed in 2020
That information is now contradicted by the former head of special investigations Ebba Sverne Arvill. To Expressen, she says that she informed Thornberg about the relationship already in the fall of 2020. This in connection with her informing Thornberg that Mats Löfving had been reported to the police for assaulting Linda Staaf and that the report had been closed.
Ebba Avrill also confirms to SVT that she informed Thornberg about the relationship already in connection with a first report in 2020.
Skipped broadcast
In the external investigator Runar Viksten’s report, he relies on Thornberg’s information about the timing of his investigation.
“Against this background, I find no reason to question Anders Thornberg’s statement that he only realized after Ari Stenman’s meeting with Linda Staaf on December 6, 2021 that there could be a relationship between Linda Staaf and Mats Löfving that could affect his objectivity in the performance of duties,” he writes in the report.
Runar Viksten was supposed to have participated in Aktuellt but announced shortly before the broadcast that he would not be appearing.
SVT is looking for Anders Thornberg for a comment.
