(Finance) – “On Monday we have several meetings called at Palazzo Chigi“, starting from “the one regarding the development of the rehabilitation and relaunch of the former Ilva factories, and on that occasion we will present the industrial and financial plan for the relaunch of the plant”. This was said by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso in a press point on the sidelines of the FdI programmatic conference underway in Pescara. Speaking of the government’s industrial policy, again with regard to the former Ilva, Urso also underlined that “we are recovering what seems completely compromised, that is, the most important steel plant in Europe. I am convinced that we will already be in conditions like this year to outline a plan to relaunch the Italian steel industry which is the basis of our country’s manufacturing industry, the automotive industry, the household appliance industry, the shipbuilding industry and the nautical industry. Let’s start again from the steel industry to build in the meantime microelectronics and green technology are the industry of the future”.

On the relaunch of the former Ilva in Taranto, on which the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy will present the industrial and financial plan to the unions on Monday, the government intends to ask the European Commission the green light for a “bridge loan”, with the aim of returning to producing 6 million tonnes of steel in 2025. “We have regained possession of what was the largest steel industry in Europe, which is the Ex Ilva of Taranto On Monday we will present the industrial and financial plan to the unions to also demonstrate to the European Commission, from which I believe we will ask for a bridge loan, that in 2025 the so-called former Ilva can return to producing 6 million tonnes of steel”.

“Steel – noted Urso -: this is why we welcomed two investors to Piombino who will make significant investments in green technologies, which will allow us to make Piombino the most important green steel hub in the Mediterranean. This is why we are concluding the program agreement to revive the Terni steel industry and we are supporting the steelworks of the North, proud of the fact that we are the first country in Europe for steel production”.

“We have made the case to the commissioners and the government that people need to go back to work.” Thus the leader of Fiom, Michele De Palma, aThe end of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi on the former Ilva. “We are no longer available to discuss long-term plans – he said – we have a 2018 plan to apply and resources are needed to implement it. The government said there would be 150 million plus the 320 million that must be authorized by the European Commission. You can’t do a wedding with dried figs.”
