(Finance) – The Commissioners of Ilva in extraordinary administration have requested ad Acciaierie d’Italia urgent updates regarding the operating status of the plants’ systems, the initiatives currently underway and the need for an inspection visit”.
In the morning, according to a note from Mimit, the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, “urged the Commissioners of Ilva in extraordinary administration and the public shareholder Invitalia to carry out the necessary discussions with Acciaierie d’Italia and all the necessary actions in order to guarantee the production continuity of the Taranto steel plants”.
“We have been reporting a situation for days of extreme severity nhe Italian factories of Acciaierie d’Italia, with risks to the safety of workers and production continuity”, he declared Rocco Palombellageneral secretary of Uilm
“In particular, in Taranto the shutdown phase of various systems has been underway for days, which has already involved the shutdown of blast furnace 2 and the preparation of the shutdown of the coke batteries. All this is in addition to the stoppage of Afo 1 last August, steelworks 1, the agglomerate and many other plants. Furthermore, for some days we have been recording an illicit movement of personnel from one plant to another without adequate knowledge of the work and the risks involved. After the intervention of Minister Urso and the Ilva AS commissioners, we expect all the necessary checks to be carried out immediately to stop this destructive process, to avoid any danger for the health and safety of workers and citizens and to safeguard the integrity of the plants”.
