Jean-Marie Le Pen, one of the iconic figures of far-right politics in France and the founder of the Front National, died at the age of 96. In the statement made by her family, it was stated that Le Pen had been experiencing health problems for a long time.
Born in La Trinité-sur-Mer in the Brittany region of France in 1928, Le Pen started her political career as a member of parliament in 1956. However, the real step that brought Le Pen into the political history of France was the establishment of the National Front, known for its far-right views, in 1972.
