Former Blizzard employee breaks world record on Twitch twice in one week

Former Blizzard employee Jason T. Hall breaks the hype train record several times on his Twitch channel “PirateSoftware”, reaching impressive levels and collecting record-breaking subs and bits in the process.

Which streamer is it? Jason T. Hall is a former Blizzard employee who is now also an active indie developer. The talented developer not only shares insights from his time at Blizzard, but also from the gaming industry in general by regularly streaming on Twitch.

This week he attracted particular attention by breaking the hype train record on Twitch several times.

What is a hype train? The Twitch platform offers its streamers a reward function called Hype Train. This is triggered when support events, i.e. the giving away of subscriptions or bits, reach a certain value on a channel that the streamer has previously set. Once the hype train starts, a countdown begins for the community to show their support and level up.

Even the renowned streamer Gronkh has already experienced how a huge hype train broke all boundaries and overloaded the technical functions. Some users received incorrect displays of pull levels and he read out all the donors’ names for 33 minutes.

9,665 subs and 1,318,607 bits are the new world record

What has the developer achieved? In the world of the highest hype train records on Twitch, names of huge streamers like Kai Cenat or EliasN97 are omnipresent. But now Jason T. Hall is also getting involved with his channel “PirateSoftware”.

On December 13, 2023, during a 13-hour stream, he broke EliasN97’s record and reached the impressive Hype Train level 51. An extraordinary achievement, especially for a channel the size of PirateSoftware.

With 206,000 followers and currently an average of 6,000 viewers, “PirateSoftware” is not exactly a small channel, but it is a long way from the previous record holders Kai Cenat and EliasN97, who each have several million followers and tens of thousands of viewers.

But simply breaking the record was apparently not enough. PirateSoftware’s chat was generous and brought the hype train to level 55. In total, the community collected an impressive 7,321 subs and 1,825,696 bits.

Just two days later, on December 15, 2023, Jason T. Hall surpassed his own performance. This time he amassed an incredible 9,665 subs and 1,318,607 bits and commented: “Two days after the world record hype train was set on Twitch, the community has broken it again. This is absolutely wild. For the second time in a week, I am honored by all of you. There are no words for how great you are.”

The “Golden Kappa” hype train has only been around since 2023 and is a special version of the normal hype train. This is very rare and most content creators have not yet been lucky enough to be able to trigger this special function.
