BankID has become the absolute most common form of e-identification in Sweden. There are approximately 8.5 million users connected to the service.
In recent times, the number of frauds has increased and many users are tricked by fraudsters into opening their BankID app and identifying themselves. If you have been the victim of fraud, you must block your BankID, contact your bank and file a police report.

But what happens if you forget the security code and can no longer identify yourself via the BankID app? News24 have talked to Charlotte Pataky who is the press officer at BankID.

– I recommend that you contact your bank. We are just the security app, she says, and continues:
– There are around ten banks that use BankID. How to do it is just as different depending on which bank you have.
One of the first banks to join BankID was Swedbank. On their website, it says that customers who have forgotten the security code for their BankID must block and delete their current BankID. After that, you need to get a new one.

You can also block your BankID with BankID’s own customer service.
Another bank that is connected to BankID is Skandiabank. If you are a customer of theirs and have forgotten your security code, you can call their customer service to get a new one.
Even at Nordea, it is necessary to contact the bank’s customer service to have the BankID blocked. Then you get a new one.
