The Swedish Work Environment Agency reported the forestry company SCA and a subcontractor to the police for work environment violations after a fatal accident outside Örnsköldsvik in December last year, when a 23-year-old man lost his life after his excavator went through the ice. This is reported by SVT Västernorrland.
After investigating the accident, the Swedish Work Environment Authority believes that SCA and the subcontractor have not complied with the work environment legislation, and it is now up to the police to investigate whether any crime has been committed.
The excavator went through the ice on a small pond during work on a new road before logging. The dead man was found by divers a day after the accident.
