With the effect of hot weather exceeding 43 degrees in Spain, forest fires in more than 30 places in the last three days, especially in the northern regions of the country, are being fought.
According to the information provided by the civil protection and self-government governments, thousands of people had to leave their homes due to forest fires in many places, especially in the city of Zamora and the regions of Catalonia, Aragon, Navarra and Extremadura.
14 VILLAGES evacuated
While 20 thousand hectares have burned so far in the Sierra de la Culebra mountainous area in Zamora, houses in 14 surrounding villages have been evacuated for security purposes.
The army also supports the fire extinguishing efforts in the region with approximately 1000 soldiers.
1 PERSON DETENTION
On the other hand, a person was detained in the Catalonia region in the east of the country, where the most fires occurred, on suspicion of causing 5 fires around the city of Lleida.
