A Swedish man is charged in the Russian-occupied region of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. This is stated by the Russian state-controlled news agency Tass.
The man is said to have participated on the Ukrainian side in the battle for the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol on the Black Sea and is accused by the Russian-backed so-called authorities in Donetsk of having fought as a mercenary.
“We have such information about a Swedish citizen deprived of his liberty and are working to get clarity on this,” the Foreign Ministry’s press service confirms, among other things, in an email to SVT Nyheter.
