Payne will work closely with the senior management team to push the company’s strategy forward, while overseeing key areas such as engineering, design, sourcing, quality and domestic sales. Joining Otosan in 2019 as Ford-Otosan Executive Vice President, Johnston completed his undergraduate education at Cambridge University (England) Department of Economics and received his Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Leadership from the same university. He has a CIMA certificate in accounting.

Johnston, who started working at Ford England in 1995; Until 2003, he held various finance positions in the areas of Production, Product Development, Profit Analysis and Marketing and Sales. Between 2003 and 2010, he held several managerial responsibilities in Ford’s Premier Automotive Group, after which he returned to Ford as Finance Manager for Passenger Vehicle Product Development for the Asia Pacific Region. Johnston served as the CFO responsible for the Southeast Asia region in Bangkok from 2011 to 2013, and between 2013-2016 he assumed the role of Product Development Finance Manager and Manufacturing Finance Manager at Ford Europe, and then Global Vehicle Programs Finance Manager in Germany. He served in Shanghai as the CFO in charge of Ford Asia Pacific from 2017 to 2018. He served as CFO at Ford China from 2018-2019 before being appointed as Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors as of 2019.

Payne, who joined Ford Otosan as Ford Otosan Craiova President with the transfer of Craiova Factory from Ford Europe to Ford Otosan in 2022, graduated from Southampton University Electronics Engineering Department and Karlsruhe University Electronics Engineering Master’s. He joined Ford Europe in 1996 and took on many different responsibilities in production in Liverpool, Cologne and Dunton until 2013. Between 2013 and 2017, he served as the Global Powertrain Assembly Manager at Ford North America and then returned to Ford Europe as Production Site Manager (Dagenham). Appointed as Craiova Engine Factory Manager in 2018, Payne served as Assistant Factory Manager- Craiova Vehicle Operations and Ford Romania President and Craiova Field Director at Ford Romania between 2018-2022.
