The electric Ford Explorer, which will be the beginning of a new era for the brand in its European adventure, has already become the center of attention with its design.
Drawing a new route for itself in the European market with the electrification process, Ford has been giving clear messages for a while that it will be more assertive in the market at this point. Emphasizing its efforts to reflect the American genes, which is perhaps the most important weapon, to Europe with its design dynamics, the brand announced the first concrete example of these works to the whole world hours ago. Ford Explorer, whose design and development process was carried out in Cologne, brings together the American genes highlighted by the brand with the assertion of an adventurous compact SUV.

The Explorer, which is presented as a completely new model, can actually be seen as an ambitious name choice for the European market. We will see the badge, which we have known for many years as Ford’s flagship SUV model in the American market, together with its mid-segment qualities in Europe. The first thing you need to know about the European Explorer is that it embodies the foundations of Ford’s partnership with Volkswagen. We can say that Ford Explorer, built on the MEB platform used in VW ID.4 and other electrics, will be a cousin with the German front at this point.
The infrastructure limits for the new Explorer, which has won the admiration of many people with its angular and adventurous form, are also at a rate that is not bad at all. In this context, when we look at the details on the table, there will be a package that has approximately 170 horsepower at the entry level of the family and will be combined with a 55 kWh battery. For the Explorer, which is on the agenda to offer a range of 350 kilometers in this version, a combination of the single electric motor version with a more powerful 280 hp version and a 77 kWh capacity battery awaits us. In these dynamics, the range value is expected to stretch up to 540 kilometers. In the performance-oriented version of the family, a dynamic 335 horsepower will be in front of us with dual electric motors and four-wheel power transmission. In this version, the range value is expected to be around 490 kilometers. In the model with 170 kW fast charging support, it can be reached from 10 percent to 80 percent with a 25-minute charge.
The Explorer differs from all current Ford models with its cockpit dynamics, just as it is outside. The hand-movable structure of the 15-inch multimedia screen, which is positioned vertically in the center of the console, will be one of the first differences in the user experience. However, for the first time in Europe, a Ford model is offered with Assisted Lane Change to change lanes smoothly and safely at the touch of the indicator lever, and advanced driver assistance systems “Clear Exit Assist”, which notifies cyclists approaching before opening the doors in busy city centres. The product range, whose equipment details will be clarified in the coming days, will include features such as heated and massage function seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning and a preheated cabin.
