A Kenyan police force to lead an international operation aimed at curbing widespread gang violence in Haiti took off from Nairobi late Monday, Kenya’s Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki said in a statement.
According to a government source, there were approximately 400 police officers on board the plane.
Kenya last year pledged to send around 1,000 police officers to the hard-hit Caribbean nation, but that has been delayed due to legal ambiguities.
