The new head coach of the Finnish women’s volleyball team is a 43-year-old Portuguese Andre Sá. The contract for the new head coach is 2+2 years. Women’s previous head coach Nikolas Buser In October, he announced that he would not seek an extension agreement. Sá is the 15th head coach of the Finnish women’s volleyball team.
– Thirty applications came. We interviewed nine coaches, which we did get a good picture of the interviewees, the Volleyball Association sports director Tapio Kangasniemi reported in the bulletin.
– Andre was already in the previous search, and he was already remembered as a potential alternative. Since then, a good job in Nancy has still refined the man’s tougher professional.
Women will play two European qualifiers this summer. However, in the next few years there will be big challenges, as the 2026 plans will be in the silver European league and the golden league in 2027 and play the next European qualifiers.
Sá started his coaching career in his home in the men’s league 2009-2012, coaching Esmoriz. He has since coached women’s teams in Norway, Germany and France. For the last three seasons, Sá has coached the league team vandoievre in France. Currently, the team is fourth in the league two games before the end of the regular season. Finnish players have been coaching last season Daniela Öhman.
Next season, Sá will move to the head coach of Volley Mulhouse Alsace in the French major clubs in the previous seven years.
– I take the task with great pride and responsible. I already found the selection phase very clear and straight, where it was easy to understand the passion and goals of both sides, Sá said.
– When it comes to a development project, time is an integral part of it. There are many steps to take quality development and maintaining it. I see that with this project, Finland is involved in big tournaments, such as European Championship and World Cup finals. In the big picture, improving the ranking is essential as new great events open.
The head coach of the Finnish women has a clear picture for the head coach. In his view, Finland has several experienced players in abroad, but also a great generation at home with a big potential.
