For the iPhone 14 Apple would bet on large screens

Mark Gurman, the Bloomberg reporter who is very knowledgeable about Apple’s plans, has just given details on the future iPhone 14 range. Apple should no longer offer a mini version, but instead decline the base model in a large version. screen. The range would therefore consist of the following smartphones:

  • iPhone 14 (6.1 inch)
  • iPhone 14 Max (6.7 inch)
  • iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inches)
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inch)

This change could result from the disappointing sales of the iPhone 13 mini and the enthusiasm of users for large-screen smartphones, particularly in China. The arrival of an iPhone 14 Max would thus make it possible to acquire a 6.7-inch model at a more reasonable price.

Currently, you have to pay at least 1159 euros for the iPhone 13 Pro and 1259 euros for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, compared to 909 euros for the iPhone 13. A hypothetical iPhone 13 Max could have cost 1009 euros, a saving of 250 euros compared to the Pro Max model.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would benefit from punches on the screen instead of the current notch.

The future SoC A16 only in the iPhone 14 Pro

In addition, to distinguish between the future iPhone 14 Pro and the basic model, Apple would act not only on the photo part, but also on the SoC. Thus, the future A16 chips would be reserved for the two Pro models, while two others would use the A15 chip of the iPhone 13, or even a variant.

The iPhone 14 Pro would especially benefit from a new 48 megapixel sensor for the main photo module (wide angle), against 12 megapixels currently for the iPhone 13 Pro. This would add even more interest to the photo part of the Pro models than just adding a telephoto module.

Finally, the iPhone 14 would be compatible with a satellite connection, but it could only be used for emergency calls and messages.
