In 1980, after two decades in production, it was time for the Saab 96 to be retired.
Or yes, since the model was a further development of the 93 which in turn was based on the 92, the 96 had its real roots in the late 1940s. High time for a replacement as the car was over 30 years old.

Without money to develop something of their own, they started selling the then-new Lancia Delta as the Saab-Lancia 600.
In addition to the different model designation, the car differed from the Delta through its Nordic-adapted heating and cooling system.
Unfortunately, the rust protection was not Nordic-adapted, and today therefore only 60 of the 6,419 that were sold remain.

That makes the Saab-Lancia 600 a decidedly unusual piece on the roads, something one car dealer in Bengtsfors truly trying to take care of.
The observant will note that the Saab-Lancia 600 is a Lancia Delta with a few Saab emblems, including on the speakers and the tailgate. The Lancia emblem in the front remains.
The car in question, a Saab-Lancia 600 GLS from 1986, has been owned by the same family since new and has only driven 2,206 miles at the time of writing. It is said that it has never been driven during the winter and that it is regularly undercarriage treated.
The Saab-Lancia 600 was manufactured between 1980 and 1986 and this piece is thus from the last model year.

The trader in Bengtsfors wants a whopping SEK 800,000 for what must be the world’s finest Saab-Lancia 600.
The corresponding Lancia – that is, the Lancia Delta – in the same condition can be found for about a tenth, more precisely 93,000 kroner down on the continent.
Having said that, this is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the most unusual things to be found in Saab’s history books.
