For Monster Hunter Wilds you can already buy DLCs on Steam that cost as much as the game for the release

Monster Hunter Wilds is without a question of the most hotly expected releases of the year. 30 minutes after the launch, the game already stormed the charts on Steam – but although players love the game, they have something to complain about.

So Monster Hunter Wilds arrives: The new offshoot of the popular series broke records for the release. Within 30 minutes, over 700,000 monster hunters gathered on Steam, less than 11 hours later the 1 million mark was broken.

With a previous peak of 1.3 million simultaneous games, the title currently only misses the top 5 of the most played games of all time (via Steamdb).

While the players on PS5 are enthusiastic about Monster Hunter Wilds, PC gamers complain of performance problems, which is why it is currently only enough for a “mixed” rating on Steam. It probably doesn’t help that Capcom already asks the players to the cash register.

What disturbs the players? Apart from performance problems and crashes, players scold on Reddit about the monetization of Monster Hunter Wilds. In a thread with over 3,000 upvotes, a user shows that almost 2 dozen additional content is offered for the game 24 hours after the release, which cost up to 10 euros.

For all DLCs together you can currently spend a little more than 65 euros – this is almost the purchase price for Monster Hunter Wilds.

“Capcom and her usual crap,” scolds the user Kevin8977. After all, players had already spent 70 euros for the game. Many others agree to him: Monetarization would be okay if it were not already a full-price title.

Some feel reminded of the notorious horse armor from Oblivion. The controversial DLC is considered a pioneer for this type of monetization, so everything started.

Like the horse armor at the time, the additional content for Monster Hunter Wilds is also purely cosmetic goodies. So players have no disadvantage if they simply ignore the offers in the store.

Some players don’t bother the microtransactions at all: if you do not get a gameplay advantage, it is a fairly fair solution.

However, others keep against it: In a multiplayer game, freedom to express yourself through in-game fashion is an important part of the gaming experience. Fortunately, there are usually enough free options in titles in the series that you can earn in the game.

How do you see that? Do you bother yourself at the paid DLCs or do you just ignore them? Have you even struck? Let us know in the comments.
