For less than 5 euros, this item will keep your home cool all summer long

This solution is very economical to keep your home cool

Few people know about this technique that costs only 5 euros. And yet, it can help you fight the heat at home in summer, and this, with a simple object that is neither the fan nor the air conditioner. Here’s how to do it.

Summer is here, the heat is back, and with it the air of vacations, picnics or evenings on the terrace… but also scorching nights and overheated interiors. As soon as the mercury rises in houses and apartments, the hunt for good tips is on… Strict times to open windows, fan or even air conditioner, anything goes to try to cool down your house and your room. Rather than turning on the air conditioning which consumes a lot or the fan which does not really cool the air when it starts to get hot, try the following tip instead.

Did you know that the survival blanket, dear to hikers and explorers, has two meanings (a silver side and a gold side) and that it can save your life in winter, but also be useful in summer when the mercury rises and it is very hot in your home? We give you two easy techniques to use this object during a heatwave. And what’s more, it’s economical since a survival blanket costs on average 5 euros.

The first technique is to use the emergency blanket to insulate the windows. Start by measuring your windows, then clean them. Cut the right size in the emergency blanket. Spray water on the window, then install the emergency blanket on your window, making sure that the silver side is facing outwards. Secure the emergency blanket with window tape, trying not to create air bubbles. This will protect you from the high heat in summer. The sun will reflect on the blanket and will not enter your home.

The second solution is to create a curtain with survival blankets. This time, you will not attach the survival blanket to the window but to your curtain. Measure your curtain and cut the size of your curtain from one or more survival blankets. Staple the blanket to the curtain (you can also sew it, but it will be more difficult to remove later). Be careful to put the silver side outwards.

If you don’t have a survival blanket, here’s a plan B: use a windshield protector, or aluminum foil. It’s also very effective.
