The tenders received are too expensive. Now the procurement is interrupted by the continued dredging work within the project Malmporten in Luleå harbor.
“The next step will be to analyze which measures will benefit the lowest cost to get started as soon as possible with the necessary work,” says Joel Smith, infrastructure director at the Swedish Maritime Administration and Anders Dahl, CEO of Luleå harbor, in a press release.
The ongoing procurement of quay for the new depth port is also interrupted.
Last summer, approximately 1.5 million cubic meters were dredged in the harbor area.
The billion project has had 2028 as the final goal. It was initiated as early as 2014 and is now at risk of being delayed. In -depth and widening of the fairway shall enable cargo vessels with an in -depth of up to 15 meters to operate the port.
The aim of the investment is to increase transport capacity in the port as a result of increased ore production in mines in northern Sweden and Finland.
