For 4 years fans have been fighting for a sci fi

When James Cameron brings a film to the big screen, there’s a very good chance it will be one High flyers at the box office acts. He recently proved that with Avatar: The Way of Water, which has become the third most successful film despite the long wait and great skepticism.

Only one thing that didn’t quite work was Alita: Battle Angel, produced by Cameron. The manga film, which was released in cinemas in 2019, fell short of the studio’s expectations. Since then, fans have been fighting for a sequel of the inaugurated sci-fi franchise. Now there is finally an announcement from Cameron.

Sci-Fi Rescue: Avatar director James Cameron is working on Alita: Battle Angel 2 and more

The acclaimed blockbuster director revealed to Forbes that he is currently not only busy with the Avatar sequels, but also working on new Alita movies. Yes, you read that right: Cameron uses the plural! Apparently, much more is planned from the sci-fi universe around the cyberpunk warrior Alita than was to be assumed from the weak numbers of the first part.

With a budget of US$ 200 million (excluding marketing costs), Alita: Battle Angel was able to be released in the course of its theatrical release only $405 million import again, which for a blockbuster of this magnitude is too little to be considered a success. Nevertheless, the first part has found a strong fan base.

While we’re still a long way from an official announcement of the Alita sequels, fans are taking Cameron’s statement as cause for celebration. “We won!” it says in numerous Alita Army tweetswhich has campaigned for the continuation of the sci-fi series in recent years.

never see the light of day. But with Cameron there is at least one big name behind Alita, who has already achieved the impossible in the cinema several times.
