Värnamo’s successful coach Kim Hellberg has taken over Hammarby.

But the 36-year-old got anything but a dream start when the Swedish Cup kicked off on Saturday.

Despite a leading goal by August Mikkelsen, there was a loss at home against Allsvenska newcomer Västerås SK.

Ibrahim Diabate equalized before Mattéo Ahlinvi became the hero of the match with a class goal in the 39th minute.

In the same group, Mjällby turned a 0–2 deficit into a 3–2 victory at home against Gif Sundsvall.

The new acquisition netted for MFF

Earlier in the day, the Swedish champion Malmö FF took a scheduled victory with 2-0 at home against Öster.

After a goalless first half, Sergio Pena headed in the lead, before new signing Jens Stryger Larsen added the final score in added time.

Häcken (2–0 against Östersund) and Brommapojkarna (3–0 against Landskrona) also won their matches.
