After the big loss in the first cup match, there were probably few who gave Örgryte a chance against Elfsborg today.
But Öis wanted something else in front of the home fans at Gamla Ullevi and Noah Christoffersson opened the scoring in the 17th minute.
Elfsborg turned it to 2-1 and had several clear goal chances to increase further – without finding the right one.
That inefficiency took its toll and in the space of seven minutes, between the 66th and 73rd minute of the match, Örgryte turned back.
Hult: “We clap together”
First, Noah Christoffersson neatly placed his second goal of the day, then he was also involved in the preparatory work for Nicklas Bärkroth’s 3-2, which became the winning goal.
– After their acknowledgment, we clap together, it feels like. We don’t play as a team and the second half is quite bad, says Elfsborg’s Niklas Hult.
The Borås team is now “only” second in the group, which is instead topped by Degerfors on four points, one more than Elfsborg and Örgryte.
Degerfors tops the group
Degerfors, in turn, had Allsvenskan newcomer Gais rocking at home on Stora Valla’s B pitch and when Gustav Lindgren threw himself into the air and made it 2-0 with an artificial goal in the 67th minute, it looked really bright.
Instead, the “Makrillarna” from Gothenburg recovered and Alexander Ahl Holmström arranged a point, 2-2, with his two full hits. The last, on power and rib in the 88th minute, was as delicious as it was important.
Degerfors goalkeeper Wille Jakobsson saved a penalty early in the match.
– It’s nice that it lives up to the end. It will be a thrilling finish in Borås and we have everything in our own hands, says coach William Lundin to TV4 Play.
