The meeting with Milan at home at the Olympic Stadium in Rome was preceded by an emotional ceremony to remember ‘Svennis’, the immensely popular coach who led Lazio to the club’s second Italian league title in the 1999-2000 season.
After Eriksson told about his cancer illness last spring, Lazio was one of many former clubs that he managed to visit.
“Svennis” was 76 years old and died in his home outside Sunne, surrounded by his family.
