During the day, the legendary football coach’s estate was submitted to the Swedish Tax Agency. The deed shows “Svenni’s” total assets and liabilities, which Göteborgs-Posten was the first to write about.
His total assets at the time of his death were SEK 66 million, but the estate register also shows that he had debts totaling SEK 118 million. This means that the estate has a deficit of just over SEK 51 million, according to Swedish law, debts are not inherited.
“Will probably die poor”
In the autobiography “Min historia” from 2014, Sven-Göran Eriksson told:
“Money was never important to me. I was born poor and will probably die poor, but I know I have lived and will live a good life in between.”
During his career, Svennis made a lot of money, but in his autobiography, “A Wonderful Journey”, which was published after his death, he tells about how in 2007 he was close to personal bankruptcy.
Cheated of 100 million kroner
During his time at big-investing Manchester City in 2007-08, he hired an adviser who allegedly defrauded him of around SEK 100 million. Svenni’s biggest item is tax debt in the UK of SEK 99 million, which, however, is not inherited.
To bolster the hard-pressed economy, he took coaching jobs in Thailand, Saudi Arabia and China.
After a battle with cancer, Eriksson died on August 26 in his home in Björkefors, which was recently put up for sale for SEK 25 million, outside Sunne in Värmland.
He lived to be 76 years old.
