The fact that top athletes from traditional sports can perform at the highest level on a computer or console is no longer a novelty. Liverpool professional Diogo Jota, among others, has been showcasing his skills in the FIFA e-sports cosmos for years. Premier League colleague Oleksandr Zinchenko also seems to have a lot of talent, as a recent match in Counter Strike 2 proved.
This was the initial situation:
And Zinchenko showed the audience right from the start that he was a force to be reckoned with!
Football star Zinchenko comes on as a substitute for his own Counter-Strike 2 team – and immediately shows his skills
This is how the match went: Only a short time after his substitution, which was duly celebrated by the organization’s official X account, the Ukrainian provided a real highlight.
In his first round, Zinchenko managed a so-called double headshot. As the last survivor, he was able to at least make the outnumbered situation from 1-5 exciting again.
But even without a direct round win, his appearance on the server should have a lasting impact on the best-of-three match.
Because after the defeat on map one and a deficit of 0-9 on map two, Passion UA suddenly turned up the heat with the Arsenal professional and finally secured the point on Ancient with 16-12.
Unfortunately, the team was unable to repeat the fable run on the final map Anubis. Opponent Bleed had visibly recovered from the shock of Ancient and narrowly defeated Passion UA 13-11 in the end – so the spectators were denied the fairytale ending to the story.
Nevertheless, the team founder’s performance was impressive, as evidenced by the match statistics published on Passion UA’s social networks.
With a kill-death ratio of 22 to 26, Oleksandr Zinchenko sold himself dearly in his debut at the pro level and certainly promoted the still young organization.
One of his teammates, however, recently had negative experiences with Counter-Strike-2. His account was banned for cheating.
