Football: Snowy own goal sinks Sweden against Norway

After losses against France (2-3) and England (1-5), a final group stage match awaited Sweden’s ladies in the U17 EC.

It was a loss for the blue and yellow girls, this time against Norway. Two nations that had nothing to play for.

However, it was a game-leading Swedish team where the only thing missing from many fine attacks was getting the ball into the net.

The first goal of the match came at the end of the first half.

“Just to forget”

This via an obvious own goal from Alice Broman, who looks like she’s trying to head the ball out for a corner, but unfortunately her own goalkeeper puts up a Norwegian lead (see clip above).

– It is Broman who is unhappy there. That’s the kind of thing that happens and you just have to forget it. Not funny, of course, but it’s something that happens and will happen more times, says SVT’s commentator, Chris Härenstam.

In the second half, Sweden pressed to find the way to an equaliser. But there were still weak finishes from the Swedes.

Group victory for England

Instead, Norway was able to close the match with a 2-0 goal eight minutes from full time. Elle Ulstein Norwegian goal scorer.

The group final between France and England had a late decider. This after Lola Brown gave England the lead in the 81st minute of the match.
