Arsenal, with Stina Blackstenius starting, took the lead away to Bayern Munich after half an hour.
But it was not a lead that the London team could maintain for long. The match swung back and forth and with about a quarter of an hour left, Denmark’s Pernille Harder would decide twice again.
In the 73rd minute she headed in the lead goal for Bayern Munich and five minutes later she had headed in the 4–2 goal. And in the 86th minute, Harder made it 5-2 – a hat-trick in the space of a quarter of an hour. Then the 31-year-old was replaced by Linda Sembrant.
Arsenal’s final push bore no fruit and Bayern Munich won 5–2.
