Football: New decision: Everton points penalty eased

The Liverpool club was sentenced to a ten-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules. An independent appeals body has now ruled Everton right on two out of nine points and has therefore decided to give the team back four points.

Everton is thus moved up two places to 15th place in the table, five points above the relegation zone.

The reason for the harsh punishment was that Everton must have reported losses of the equivalent of SEK 4 billion between 2018 and 2021. According to the regulations, a club may incur a maximum loss of around SEK 1.3 billion over three years.

However, the danger is not over

Everton considered the ten point deduction disproportionate and appealed the league’s decision.

However, the danger is not over for Everton. You can get a new point deduction for breaking the same financial rules in recent years. In a few weeks, a new sentence is expected.
