In April, the Swedish Football Association announced that Domanski Lyfors, 64, had suffered a brain tumor. A month later, the news came that it is malignant and cannot be surgically removed. Domanski Lyfors continues to undergo treatment and occasionally visits the national team’s gatherings.
– It gives us so much energy to meet Marika and see how she is and to talk to her and have her around us. She is such a damn strong woman, says Magdalena Eriksson, who played her first match in the national team since July after a lingering knee injury, to SVT Sport.
– It’s incredibly nice to have her around us, just her presence is enough. It feels as if everything is in order when she is in place. I get so happy every time I see her, says team captain Kosovare Asllani, who gave the armband to Jonna Andersson, made his hundredth international match, after being replaced after just under an hour.
