While the supporters had begun to flow in to see Manchester City playing a directly crucial Champions League match, they also got to look at when the PL club’s souvenir shop was on fire.
The fire broke out at the western part of the arena. However, the rescue service arrived quickly at the scene, and had to work long before the fire could finally be extinguished.
Several inputs have been closed
According to Manchester Evening News, no one should have been injured, but several entrances to the arena have been suspended due to security risk.
“The security for everyone who will go to the match tonight is our highest priority, and therefore all events planned in the” West Stand section “have been canceled, such as the welcome event for the new players and players’ entrance,” the club writes at X.
The match remains intended to be implemented at the exposed kick off, 21.00. Manchester City must win in order not to be eliminated from the Champions League already after the league phase.
