Football: Korbin Albert apologizes after anti-LGBTQ posts – criticized by Megan Rapinoe

It was a few days ago that it was first noticed that PSG’s American midfielder Korbin Albert shared anti-LGBTQ posts on his social media. The 20-year-old was criticized by Megan Rapinoe, who in turn received support from several national team players – active and inactive.

“To people who want to hide behind ‘their faith’, I would like to ask a question. Are you making a place safer, more inclusive or better in some way? If the answer is no, all you believe is hate. Wake up, because children are killing themselves because of the hate”.

After PSG secured a semi-final place in the Champions League, Albert went out and apologized on his social media.

“Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive and hurtful was immature and disrespectful. That was never my intention. I am disappointed in myself and deeply sorry for the pain I have caused,” she writes.
