It was at the end of January that the 56-year-old German declared that he would quit after the season. Liverpool fans have reluctantly seen this day approach – the big farewell after 8.5 years and great success together.
Klopp addressed the fans at a packed Anfield.
“Obviously I saw a lot of people cry and I will tonight too because I will miss people but change is good. Everything will be fine because the basics are there one hundred percent, said Klopp.
“I am one of you now”
– You must welcome the new coach as you welcomed me. You must go “all in” from day one. You must continue to believe. You must push the team. I am one of you now. I love you to the smallest detail, Klopp continued.
After declaring that Liverpool FC is the best team in the world, he handed over a symbolic baton to the next coach, Dutchman Arne Slot of Feyenoord, and began to sing:
“Arne Slot, na, na, na, na” and received a good response from all corners of Anfield.
Slot himself has confirmed that he is ready for Liverpool, but has not been officially presented by the club.
