Umeå did not manage to win against Bollstanäs, which means that Alingsås is ready for promotion as UIK now has ten points up to Alingsås – but can only get nine more points.
The entire Alingsås squad watched the match together after they trained. Team captain Moa Jarl says that for a long time there was a calm atmosphere among the players, but that the end of the match in Umeå was nervous to follow.
– It was very, very tense and nervous last quarter, says Jarl to SVT Sport shortly after the final whistle.
“Total joy and happiness”
How was the feeling when the final whistle sounded and it was clear that you will play in the women’s league next year?
– It was just total joy and happiness. You probably don’t understand it at first, but then it lands a little and it just bubbles inside you. It’s a great atmosphere here, everyone is happy and it’s unreal.
– Almost some tears too.
A few years ago, several players broke away from Holmalunds IF and created a new club – Alingsås FC, which then became Alingsås IF.
What is the main reason why you are now ready for the women’s league?
– We have been able to be a stable group that for many years has worked hard together and had a long-term perspective in our work as well. We have had our sights set on the women’s league for a long time and have made good signings in recent years.
Malmö FF was also ready for the women’s league in connection with Umeå’s points loss.
