Football: Janne Andersson’s crisis move was a success for Andreas Johansson

During his record number of 432 Allsvenskan matches (a record that has now been set), Andreas Johansson has had Janne Andersson as assistant and head coach during his first eight years in Halmstad, and Andersson was the one who handpicked Johansson to Norrköping in 2012 before he became Sweden’s national team captain in the summer of 2016.

Janne Andersson says that “Ante G”, as Janne calls him, was his extended arm on the pitch. And when a lightning change was needed in the fall of 2014 (Norrköping was in the relegation zone with four rounds left), Janne relied on Andreas Johansson.

– I had told him early on that sooner or later in your career you will become a centre-back. Things had been going badly for us for a period and I needed to do something. I put “Ante” in as center back and he did very well, says Janne Andersson.
