PSG won 2-1 in Sweden last week, which meant that Häcken was forced to claim a resounding victory in the French capital Paris this evening to avoid elimination.
They did not succeed in that. PSG were quite superior, and Häcken didn’t create a single really dangerous opportunity in the entire match.
Falk was responsible for fine saves
PSG eventually won tonight’s match 3–0, which meant they won 5–1 in the end. And the fact is that it could have been an even bigger victory if Jennifer Falk didn’t play great in Häcken’s goal, and made several high-quality saves.
– It was tough out there. PSG was too big a number for us today. We are not sharp enough out there and lose too much ball, says Häcken’s Filippa Curmark to SVT Sport.
But despite the clear victory, SVT Sports expert Hanna Marklund believes that the Häcken players will be commended for their efforts in the Champions League.
– It’s so impressive, I hardly thought they would win a game in the group. Even there they overachieved. In match after match, they have really performed to the max, both tactically and as a team, they have gotten an incredible amount out of it.
Jusu Bah injured
In addition to the loss, another worrying thing happened to Häcken in the match. The 20-year-old shooting star Monica Jusu Bah, who was recently selected for the national team for the first time, was forced to leave the field with her right thigh tightly wrapped – disturbing images ahead of this weekend’s cup semi-final against Hammarby and the women’s Swedish premiere in two weeks.
– She had cramping in the back of her thigh. It was a precautionary measure to take her out, not least in view of the important match that awaits this weekend (cupsem final against Hammarby on Sunday). She will be examined further, says the doctor Sadesh Balasingam to SVT Sport.
In the semi-final, PSG will be pitted against their French rival Lyon, while Barcelona will face Chelsea in the other semi-final.
