Football: Häcken’s Aivi Luik suspended for doping offences

The Australian 39-year-old received treatment for a back injury during his time in Italy 2022.

During that time, she received, among other things, an injection containing cortisone, which is on WADA’s list of banned substances.

Got a judgment last month

Her club Pomigliano submitted an application for a waiver, but the application was not complete and did not become so despite two reminders – and was therefore denied.

Earlier this year, she received an email from the anti-doping agency Nado Italia. There she learned that she was suspected of violating the doping rules, because she played matches despite not having received a dispensation for the substance she was treated with in Italy.

In July, she received the decision that she will be suspended for three months. Only on October 16 does the suspension end.

– I want to come back stronger, I want to train harder. I want to give back to the club that has stood behind me, that cares about how their players feel and that believes in their players, she tells The evening paper.

“We believe in her”

Häcken’s club manager Marcus Jodin suffers with Luik, and is disappointed with how her former Italian club handled the case.

– Aivi has been transparent with us all the way, shown all the documentation and we believe in her fully. I’m suffering with Aivi and we’re losing one of our players because they (the Italian club) haven’t behaved, he says, adding:

– You get frustrated and pissed off.
