Yesterday’s Stockholm derby was once again characterized by scenes of chaos from the stands. In the 76th minute, the match between Hammarby and Djurgården was interrupted due to thrown objects.
– Everyone agrees that it is not acceptable to throw in different types of pyrotechnics. There, I perceive that there is a very large consensus among various actors around football, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M).
“A matter of security”
Later, the police announced that Hammarby’s permit was being revoked – which meant that the audience had to leave the arena. That decision drew criticism from several quarters.
– It is the police who ultimately have to make such decisions. It is a question of safety there and then, says Strömmer.
The government has, after several similar incidents last season, launched an investigation into how this should be handled in the future. Among other things, the current legislation must be reviewed.
– The investigation will come up with its proposals in March. Some are precisely about the punishment for those who do this.
The Stockholm derby will resume on Monday at 2 p.m.
