On Friday, SvFF’s nomination committee will propose a chairman for the union meeting in March.
Fredrik Reinfeldt has said that he will close his candidacy if he does not become the nomination committee’s proposal.
How do you feel the support looks like for you?
– I leave that to the nomination committee to decide, he says.
During his two years as chairman of the football, Reinfeldt has received harsh criticism during periods:
One of the most loud critics with regard to the last point has been Lars-Christer Olsson, formerly, among others, UEFA manager and SEF chairman.
– From the beginning he was not at all interested in having contact with the district associations. And he has not been available. If you are a full -time chairman, you are expected to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both for the public and for the movement, says Olsson.
Maybe this is a different type of leadership than before, you are not you who is conservative?
– No, actually not. Throughout my professional life, I have worked to modernize and change football organizations. This has nothing to do with old and new.
The answer: “No one else has been seen so much”
Fredrik Reinfeldt himself believes that the criticism has no basis.
– I see myself as an extremely visible sports leader. I would imagine that no one else has been seen as much as I have done in different media contexts during these two past years.
– In 2024 I made ten district visits, full -day visits, and I have made two district visits so far this year, he says.
What are you most proud to have done during these two years?
– The most important role of the board chairman is to get the economy organized and to create a long -term basis for sustainable finances. I have done that.

The counter-candidate, SEF chairman Simon Åström, has declined an interview until after the nomination committee’s message on Friday.
On March 22, at the union’s annual meeting, the chairman will be elected. It stands between sitting chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt and Simon Åström, current chairman of Swedish elite football.
The districts and associations that nominated Åström to new chairman are:
Dalarna Football Association, Gästrikland Football Association, Medelpads Football Association, Norrbotten Football Association, Västerbotten Football Association, Västmanland Football Association, Upplands Football Association, AIK FF, Hammarby IF FF, Kristianstad DFF and Västerås SK FK.
But already on Friday, the nomination committee will present its proposal to the chairman – and Fredrik Reinfeldt has been clear that he will close his candidacy if he does not become the nomination committee’s alternative.
Eligible at the Swedish Football Association’s annual meeting is the country’s football district and elite clubs on the women’s and men’s side.
In total, it deals with 262 votes: 172 distributed in the districts (66 percent) and 90 at the clubs (34 percent).
In the districts, the number of votes is distributed based on size, where Stockholm has the most votes (20).
For the elite clubs, two votes apply to the all -Swedish associations and one vote was for the associations in the second divisions.
This means that a double club, which has both a men’s and a women’s team in the respective highest, has a total of four votes.
