Norrköping’s football festival made its debut last year and the cup aims to become the second largest football tournament with 700 visiting teams for both national and international teams. This year they had their first international feature with visiting teams from Kenya.
– We hope for even more international teams next year, especially from the Nordic countries, but this year we got three fantastic teams from Kenya, so it’s really great fun, says Kenneth Petersson, Club Manager for Lindö FF.
During the weekend, matches were played in several places in Norrköping and last year the cup had 242 registered teams in the tournament, but this year there were only 181 teams.
– We were the only cup that was approved by the Public Health Authority to organize a cup last year, so when all the other cups stopped, they came to us. That’s why we had a lot of registrations last year, says Kenneth Petersson.
“The most fun was going to Kolmården”
The cup also arranged the event “Feast of the Festivals” where the players got to visit Kolmården, which turned out to be very popular.
– Being able to see when all the leaders and young people gather at Kolmården, regardless of where you are from, makes the football family as one, so it is almost the funnest thing to see, says Kenneth Petersson.
