Football: Emil Forsberg on the Swedish national team: “It’s not charity”

Emil Forsberg was a key player in the national team during Janne Andersson’s time as national team captain. In an exclusive interview with SVT Sport in his new hometown of New York, “Foppa” tells what he thinks about the choice of Danish Jon Dahl Tomasson as the new Swedish national team captain.

– It was time for something new. I think both Janne and the association felt it. Now is the time for Jon Dahl Tomasson to make his mark on the national team. We have a lot of younger players coming up.

  • Hammarby must work to remove Fredrik Reinfeldt as chairman

  • How do you feel about your own position in the national team?

    – I know what level I can maintain, and if I maintain that level, I think I should be in, says Forsberg and continues:

    – It is not a charity. You play because you are the best and deliver at a good level. So it will always be.
