Malmö have gone from strength to strength in the Allsvenskan and came to Borås Arena with six straight victories behind them for a repeat of last year’s golden match against Elfsborg.
Then the home team took the lead. Returner Arber Zeneli scored 1-0 for Elfsborg.
– I thought that I usually shoot from the far side, but now I took first and it worked, says Zeneli, who was pulled with a groin problem and was forced to substitute at halftime.

And it didn’t get any better for the next scorer. Simon Hedlund extended the lead to 2-0 – and was forced to retire soon after.
The match was closed when Martin Olsson pushed a ball into his own box to make it 3-0. A reduction came from Sebastian Jörgensen, which made the final score 3-1.
– It was a bit nerve wracking but we got the job done today and it’s incredibly nice with three points, says captain Johan Larsson.
Malmö’s first loss of the year is thus a fact. However, they retain the league lead despite the points drop, while Elfsborg climbs to seventh place in the series.
