In April, it was clear that Oscar Hiljemark, who played at the club for several years at the beginning of his career, will take over as head coach for Elfsborg. After a longer summer break, he played his first match for the Borås club today and it was an immediate victory.
After high pressure, Elfsborg quickly turned the game around and Michael Baidoo found Simon Hedlund on the right wing. The 31-year-old gave in and got a real roller hit that found its way behind BP’s goalkeeper Filip Sidklev.
Elfsborg superior
BP pressed for an equalizing goal and had several chances to level the score, but instead Baidoo stepped up as the goalscorer and made it 2-0 in the 87th minute of the match.
Elfsborg’s goalscoring ended with Aron Gudmundsson securing the final result 3–0 and thus Hiljemark has had a tasty start to his coaching stay at the Borås club.
– Elfsborg is simply good, says BP’s Wilmer Odefalk regarding what made the decision.
However, it was not all happy for Elfsborg, who had to see their captain, Sebastian Holmén, go out injured in the first half.
